Consulting work for Ministry for Education of Brazil, in which the shown devices tested for educational use were not approved.

Below are listed some of the duties carried out by me during an advising service:

• Supervision the development of online/blended courses based in a specific demand and/or a on-site existing course.
• Migrating from the current education paradixgm (on-site course and/or online course) to mobile learning course.
• Training the staff needed to run an online technology based education operation (authors, tutors and supporting team).
• Certifying the mastery on Moodle technology authoring (MCCC certification) for staff.
• Specifying and/or evaluating technologies and methods to be used an online technology based education operation.
• Designing the instructional model to be applied to an online/blended course (content delivery, interaction methods, assessment plan, rubrics, etc.).
• Negotiating and/or following up the relationship with technology/service providers.
• Leadering the instructor, instructional design and/or supporting teams of an online technology based education operation.

During these almost two decades of experience, I had the oportunity to deal with several different sorts of education scenarios, whether in terms of scale (from one-to-one education to almost 200,000 students), kind (schools, universities, corporations, governments, courts, small firms, independent teacher, etc.), student profile (unskilled worker, high-school students, undergraduated/graduated students, corporate employees, elderly, sales teams, etc.), technology (Moodle, .LRN, Atutor, Google Apps, etc.) or method (online course, blended course, social learning, mobile learning, offline learning, on-site learning or a mix of them).

Research

Data collection activity for the research on the use of tablet computers by teachers in a K12 school.

My research aims to develop an optimized model for deploying tablet computers in educational processes in schools, in a way that the pedagogical results can be achieved within less time, with better outcomes and without or less operational problems.

As the wide use of tablet computers for virtually all educational institutions (schools, colleges, universities and training companies) it is just a matter of time, it is better to master the related deployment process since now.

(Always) Studing

Testing the use of augmented reality for educational purposes.

As what I do for living is very dependent on technology, my career was based on the continuous learning on new technologies and methods for enhancing educational processes. Before the need comes up, I experiment all possibilities of using a resource and put in practice as soon as it is possible. Antecipating the demands always puts me in a very confortable and vanguard position.

I don't want to expose my family too much in this personal/professional website. However, I couldn't leave them out of the description of what I do of my time, since they are the reason of everything I do when I am not with them. Thus, this is a tribute to my three best friends: my wife and my two sons.

Portuguese Interpreting

This is a part time job I have in Calgary, for which I was invited because the lack of interpreters for Portuguese in the CCSD (Calgary Catholic School District). Actually, I don't work too much, since not more than one dozen of Portuguese-speaking families come up to CCSD every semester (mostly from Portugal). However, it is a pleasure for me to help them to communicate in English, since the few hours I work as an interpreter for each family make a lot of difference for their first contact with the new school system, in the new country, in a environment in which an unkown language is spoken.
